Inspection for manufacturing

Use the inspection functions in the Manufacture workspace to inspect parts before, during, and after the manufacturing process. Fusion supports probing with CNC machines and inspection using manual measuring instruments, such as calipers and micrometers.

probe wcs icon Probe WCS strategy

Uses probe cycles on your CNC machine to locate stock, locate machined features from previous operations, and update the coordinate system defined in the setup (WCS Offset) based on the results. Inspection results can be imported from a machine-generated results file or imported in real-time using a live connection between Fusion and the CNC machine.

Helps automate the setting up of complex, free-form parts on a CNC machine. Examples include castings, forgings, and near net shapes. Using surface inspection results, Fusion calculates a part alignment to compensate for any misalignment or imprecise fixturing of the part on the CNC machine. Inspection results are imported from a machine-generated results file.

Helps automate the setting up of complex, free-form parts on a CNC machine. Surface inspection results are imported in real-time using a live connection between Fusion and the CNC machine. This provides a quicker, more automated workflow by removing the need for a machine operator to import a machine-generated results file

Fusion Manufacturing Extension

This feature is part of an extension. Extensions are a flexible way to access additional capabilities in Fusion. Learn more.

Uses the probing cycles (macros) on your CNC machine, or a probe path, to measure and verify, in-process, the geometry of critical features. Examples of features include holes, bosses, surfaces, walls, channels, and corners. Inspection results can be imported from a machine-generated results file or imported in real-time using a live connection between Fusion and the CNC machine.

Creates an operation for performing surface inspection of complex, free-form parts while they are still on a CNC machine. Surface inspection results can be imported from a machine-generated results file or imported in real-time using a live connection between Fusion and the CNC machine. Analysis of the results lets you check whether the part is in or out of tolerance.
