Configure User and System Paths

Use the Configure User and System Paths dialog to customize the various paths to files such as defaults, fonts, and startup MAXScript files.

  • Default menu: Customize menu > Configure User and System Paths
  • Alt menu: Customize menu > Customization > Configure User and System Paths

All changes to the paths are saved in the 3dsmax.ini file.

Interface

The Configure User and System Paths dialog comprises two panels:

  • User and System Paths
  • 3rd Party Plug-ins

  • User and System Paths
    Sets the system path for various file types. This dialog is particularly useful when programming scripts for 3ds Max.
  • 3rd Party Plug-Ins Path Configuration
    Adds or modifies the directory paths of plug-ins supplied by third parties and independent software developers.
