Flush Caches - Arnold for Cinema4d
If Auto-mipmap or Auto-tile options are enabled, used texture files are locked after a render has been started (even if it is not an IPR session) and they cannot be written by another application such as Photoshop, for example. The typical message that is shown is:
You then have to close the application and reopen the scene for the Arnold plugin to accept the newly saved texture files. A workaround is to flush the caches, which will release the texture files and make them editable without closing the application.
Info: This issue does not exist if auto Tx generation is enabled, because then the
.tx
texture is used and the original can be modified.
Info: This issue only exists on Windows platform. Linux and MacOS should be unaffected.
Substance texture cache
When rendering Substance assets via the Substance Shader, the plugin bakes textures to the tex/substance_cache
folder of the project, and to the user data folder in case of material previews. The Flush Caches command removes these folders including all baked textures.
