Project Admins can move a database to another project, provided that they are Admin or have an Editor role on the destination project. Admins cannot move to a project where they have Reader or Viewer roles.
Users with Editor, Reader, and Viewer roles will not be able to move databases across projects.
The application will send notifications at the beginning of the process, at the end of the process when the database has been moved successfully across another project, or when there is a failure (the database cannot be moved and will remain it its original location).
To move a database to a different project:
- Go to Database.
- If you have access to more than one hub/project, select the appropriate one.
- Click the Active tab.
- In the database list, find the database you want to move.
- Click
(Vertical Ellipsis) located to the right of the applicable row.
- Select Move.
A Move window is displayed.Note: Only users with Admin roles have access to the Move option.
- Specify the new name for the database in the box.
Note: This must be a unique database name. An error message will be displayed if you specify a name that is already used in the destination project. If this occurs, try again.
- In Target project, select from the drop-down list the project where the database will be moved.
Note: You will only be allowed to move a database to a project where you are Admin or have Editor role. The application will report an error when you try to move a database to a project where you have Reader or Viewer access.
- Click Move.
Caution: All changes must be saved before moving the database. Any unsaved changes will be lost.
The database is now moved and listed in the Active tab of the destination project, and can be opened in the applicable modeling product.
