There are two types of label available for use on the map view:
- Auto Labels are simple read only labels that can be used to display a network identifier and / or the value of the parameter displayed in the current active theme. Auto Labels can also be customised to include user defined text and values of selected parameters.
- Long (Annotation) Labels are configurable labels that can be used as standard labels displaying network object parameters or as custom labels.
Auto Labels can only be configured in InfoWorks WS Pro but can be displayed in IWLive Pro.
Long labels can be configured and displayed in both InfoWorks WS Pro and IWLive Pro.
Labels (Auto Labels and Long Labels) generated in InfoWorks WS Pro may be displayed in IWLive Pro via the selection of label lists in the Themes Window of the Operator mode. This requires the saving of labels in Label Lists in InfoWorks WS Pro and the association of these Label Lists with the baseline object.
Creating labels
As mentioned previously in this topic, Auto Labels cannot be created in IWLive Pro.
It is possible to add Long Labels in
IWLive Pro to objects on the Map view by using the
Label button () of the
Tools toolbar. The cursor changes to a
cursor. The label tool toggles labels on and off.
- To display a standard long label, click a network object. If more than one network object is under the cursor, choose the correct one from the list. Only one standard label can be attached per network object. Clicking a network object that is already attached to a standard label will result in the label being hidden.
- To display a custom long label attached to a network object, hold down Ctrl and click an object. If more than one network object is under the cursor, choose the correct one from the list. Any number of Custom labels may be attached to an object.
- To display a
custom long label that is not attached to a network object:
- Click the Map view to display a label with a callout line. The callout line will be anchored to the point clicked.
- Hold down Ctrl and click the Map view to display a label without a callout line. The label will be centred on the point clicked.
- To move a label, click inside the label, hold the mouse button down, and drag the label to its new location.
Double click a label to display the Annotation Label dialog. The dialog can be used to change label type between standard and custom and to edit custom long label text and appearance.
The font and size of standard labels cannot be edited in IWLive Pro.
Clearing labels
To clear all the labels, select Clear All Labels from the Map view context menu
Alternatively, select the blank entry on the Label List dropdown list of the Themes Window in the Operator mode.
Saving labels and settings
Labels cannot be saved in IWLive Pro and are not remembered when the application is closed. However, it is very easy to re-display labels contained in label lists by selecting the desired Label List in the Label List dropdown list of the Themes Window.
Label settings can only be saved for custom long labels. To save the current long custom label settings for use as the default for new custom long labels, click the Save As Default button on the Annotation Label dialog.
Replays of the simulation
Labels can also be used to display results during replays of a simulation. See Results on Labels for more information.
