IWLive Pro Operator Client Toolbars

The toolbars initially appear at the top of the program window, beneath the menu bar. However, they are dockable so you can, by dragging, anchor them on another edge of the window or float them to give a larger working area. They cannot be resized. See Using dockable windows and toolbars.

The toolbars can be shown or hidden, or the buttons on the toolbars re-organised. See Customising the toolbars.

Headline toolbar

Open associated

Open associated item

Click this button and then on a zone in the headlines map view to open the baseline object associated with the zone.

Pan Pan Click this button (or press F8) to turn on Panning mode. Click and then hold the left mouse button down; drag the pointer across the view and release the mouse button to move the network in relation to the view.
Zoom in Zoom in Click this button (or press F9) to turn on Zoom In mode. Click the network once to zoom in by 50%, or click and hold the left mouse button down; drag the mouse to create a box around the area to be magnified.
Zoom Out Zoom out Click this button and click once on the map view to zoom out by 200%.
Refresh Refresh Refreshes with any configuration changes.
Headline windows Headline windows Opens a drop-down list from which you can choose to open the Schedule, Messages, Headline, and Totals windows.

Headlines Click this button to display the Headlines page.

Back

Back

Click this button to load the previous run in the Run Manager.

Next

Forward

Click this button to load the next run in the Run Manager.

Load

Load most recent projection run

Click this button to load the most recent projection run in the Run Manager.

Tools toolbar

Distance Distance tool Tick Tick

Click this button to turn on the Distance Estimation Tool. Click the point where distance estimation is to start. The cursor is now joined to that point with a red line. The distance from the start point of the line to the current cursor position is constantly updated in the status bar. To put bends in the line, click the mouse button on intermediate points.

The distance is displayed in the status bar . The first figure is the distance from the start point to the last clicked point. The second figure is the distance from the last clicked point to the current position of the cursor. The third figure is the total distance from the start to the current cursor position.

Pan Tick Tick Click this button (or press F8) to turn on Panning mode. Click and then hold the left mouse button down; drag the pointer across the view and release the mouse button to move the network in relation to the view.

Click this button to switch on the Selection Tool.

Click a network in the map view. The selected object is displayed in a different colour.

To select several objects, hold down Ctrl and then click individual objects. These are added to the current selection. Clicking a selected object while Ctrl is held down removes the object from the selection.

Polygon select Cross Tick

Click this button to turn on Polygon Select mode. This allows selection of a group of objects within a defined area.

Click a series of points to draw a polygon around the objects to be selected. Double-click at the last point to complete the polygon. The new selection includes any object whose centre is within the boundary. The new selection replaces any current selection in the map view.

Hold down Ctrl when drawing the polygon to add all objects within the polygon to the current selection.

Select all objects in selected polygons Cross Tick Click this button to select all objects contained in currently selected polygon objects.
Clear selection Cross Tick Click this button to de-select all currently selected objects in the map view.

Pipe Break Cross Tick

Click this button to add a pipe break in pipes and meters.

By default, this option is set to break enabled.

Clicking along the pipe will create a pipe break and set the Break Split Pipe Distance in Link Data Fields. If you click again anywhere in the pipe, it will move the pipe break in the new location and adjust the Break Split Pipe Distance accordingly.

Refer to Link Data Fields for the Pipe Break controls.

Window toolbar

Use the Window toolbar to open windows in the Baseline page. This functionality is very similar to that provided by the Window menu. See Administrator Menus and Operator Menus for more information.

Note that a button will be disabled when the related window is currently open (i.e. window fully visible to the user).

Find Find Tick Tick Clicking this button displays the Find Network Objects dialog. You can use this dialog to: search for network objects using wildcard characters; find a location on the Geoplan using a selected web map application and a full or partial address; locate objects in a GIS layer by matching text in GIS layer fields.
Go to XY coordinates Go to XY coordinates Tick Tick

Use this button to find, and possibly zoom in on, a specific XY coordinate. Clicking the button displays the Go To XY Coordinates dialog.

Allows selection of a window layout for the current page.

Trace toolbar

Trace and select links downstream

Click this button to turn on the Downstream Network Trace tool and then click any link. The trace selects objects in the downstream direction of flow from the selected link.

This tool is only available when a run is displayed in the Map view.

Trace US

Trace and select links upstream

Click this button to turn on the Upstream Network Trace tool and then click any link. The trace selects objects in the upstream direction of flow from the selected link.

This tool is only available when a run is displayed in the Map view.

Isolation trace

Click this button to turn on the Isolation Trace tool and then click a pipe or node. The trace is used to determine the nearest valves / pump stations to be closed in order to isolate the asset clicked on. The trace works outwards from the selected asset until a valve / pump station is reached.

This tool is only available when a run is displayed in the Map view.

Edit toolbar

Replay toolbar

The Replay Control Toolbar provides all the operations required to view a replay of a simulation. Some commands have keyboard shortcuts (see extra column in table below).

By default, the toolbar is displayed/hidden as a simulation view is opened/closed.

Jump to start

Rewind

Jump to the start of the simulation. If a replay is running it will continue from the start of the simulation.

Backstep

Step back in time through the simulation.

Pause

Pause

Pause the replay. You have to hit Play Play or Loop Loop again to resume the replay.

Step Forward

Step forward

Step forward in time through the simulation.

Play

Play

Play a replay of the results throughout a simulation. By default, the replay will cover all of the simulation. However you can restrict the time frame of the replay to just part of the simulation. See Replaying part of a simulation.

Loop

Loop

Play a continuously looping replay of the results of the simulation. The time frame can be restricted as described above.

To stop the simulation replay, hit the pause Pause button

Fast forward

Jump to the end of the simulation. If you are running a replay in continuous repeat mode it will continue by looping to the start of the simulation.

Displays the Replay Options dialog, used to select results for a particular time during the simulation.

Click this button to turn on Graph Pick mode. This is only available when looking at a run.

In this mode, click a network object and choose one or two parameters to graph for that object.

You can also hold down the Ctrl key when clicking an object. This displays a grid of all the object parameters.

Grid

Grid

Click this button to turn on Grid Pick mode. This is only available when looking at a run.

In this mode, click a network object to display a grid of time-varying results for that object.

This tool is an alternative to using the above Graph Pick tool and holding down the Ctrl key.

Grid selected objects

Select one or more network objects and then click this button to display a time varying grid of a chosen parameter for the selected objects. The button is only available when looking at a run.

Clicking the button displays the Grid Selection dialog.

Graph selected objects

Select one or more network objects and then click this button to graph one or more parameters for the selected objects. The button is only available when looking at a run.

Clicking the button displays the Graph Selection dialog.

Results Results Opens the appropriate results window.
Results display mode

Select a Results Display Mode. The display mode determines which objects results will be displayed in the results windows:

  • All assets - results for all network assets will be displayed in results windows
  • List - results for objects in the chosen selection list will be displayed in results windows. When this option is chosen, a list of all available selection lists will be displayed.
  • Visible in map - results for network assets currently displayed in the Map view will be displayed in results windows
  • Selected in map - results for network assets currently selected in the Map view will be displayed in results windows

Enabled when Results Display Mode is set to List.

Click this button to choose the selection list of objects for which results are to be displayed.
