Dope Sheet Editor improvements

Further enhancements to the 2025 update of the Dope Sheet Editor.

Sound in the Dope Sheet

The Dope Sheet Editor now supports multiple audio tracks, with their waveforms appearing at the top of the view area. See the section Sound in the Dope Sheet in the Dope Sheet view area topic.

Improved Dope Sheet Zoom and Pan

Dope Sheet zooming centers on the cursor position

You can now zoom in and out of the Dope Sheet View area based on the position of the cursor. Previously, the zoom focused on the center of the window, making it easy to lose track of your position. Also, while revisiting the zoom behavior, work was done to enhance the zoom and pan navigation experience within the Dope Sheet Editor.

Dope Sheet Editor Selection Improvements

This update includes several enhancements to key selection, which are useful because the specialty of the Dope Sheet Editor is working with dense keyframes and large-scale timing edits:

Shift-Select to update multiple key values

Updating multiple key values at once

As of the 2025.1 update, you can enter a value and update several selected keys at the same time.
  1. Shift-select multiple Dope Sheet Editor keys.
  2. While holding Shift, double-click one of the selected keys and enter a value to modify them all at once.

Improved selection of dense keys

Improvements to the Dope Sheet Edit > Transformation Tools > Select Keys tool let you work with more precision in areas where there are many keys crowded tightly together. Now, frame numbers appear over each corner of the selection to give you the precise location of the selected keys.

Working with the Select Keys tool is also now easier to see and manipulate, and a problem where the displayed end frame number was shown at an offset from the actual selection has been addressed. These improvements are a particular help when working with a dense number of keys.

Note: The Dope Sheet Edit menu > Transformation Tools > Select Keys manipulator is different from the Select Tool . Both of these tools let you select more than one key, but Select Keys has a scalable manipulator that lets you view frame numbers.

Improved Move Tool Selection

A problem with selecting keys in the Dope Sheet View area has been addressed. Previously, when you used the Move tool , and selected an attribute, all the corresponding sub attributes were selected: you could not select an individual attribute. Now, the selection refreshes correctly.

Disable snapping with Time Snap

Moving a key with the Time Snap option

A new Time Snap option has been added to the Dope Sheet toolbar to let you activate or disable snapping. Similar to the Graph Editor Time Snap option, it forces keys moved in the View area to the nearest integer (nonfractional) time unit value.

Note: Unlike the Graph Editor, Time Snap is off by default in the Dope Sheet to preserve subframes.

New Bake Channel option

Baking selected channels in the Dope Sheet

A new Dope Sheet Editor-specific Time Range option has been added to the Bake Channel options: Selection. The Selection option lets you bake the keys in a range defined by keys you select.

Channel Set import/export

New options have been added to the Dope Sheet outliner contextual menu to let you import and export Channel Sets so you can share them between scenes. To do so, right-click in the Dope Sheet outliner and select the Import and Export options from the contextual menu.

The Dope Sheet Editor exports Channel Sets as a JSON file. See Import and Export Channel Sets in the Create Channel Sets in the Dope Sheet topic.

Evaluation Manager manipulation support

The Dope Sheet Editor now benefits from the Evaluation Manager manipulation support to accelerate key manipulation using the Manipulation option in the Evaluation Toolkit. Also, a new Manipulation state in the Evaluation HUD (Heads Up Display) window lets you view when EM partial evaluation is active.
