** ERROR 304503 ** The nominal pin diameter (XXX) for valve gate controller (YYY) is smaller than the gate channel tip diameter (ZZZ). This valve pin cannot fully shut off melt flow.

Explanation

This error is caused by the nominal pin diameter being too small. The nominal pin diameter refers to the straight section of the pin, immediately above the pin tip, as indicated by the figure below:

Where A indicates the nominal pin diameter.

Resolution

Check and correct the value you have entered for nominal pin diameter in the View/Edit Valve Gate Controller dialog.

To access the View/Edit Valve Gate Controller dialog,

1. Click (Boundary Conditions tab > Feed System panel > Valve Gate Controller) and select Create/Edit.
2. Select the valve gate controller identified in the error message and click View/Edit.
3. In the View/Edit Valve Gate Controller dialog, change the Nominal pin diameter to the correct value.
4. Click OK to close the dialog, and all subsequent dialogs.
