What is it?
Textures and color, T&C, are triangle data additional to their position in space and in the triangle net.
Where does it appear in Netfabb?
T&C may be used to give the triangle net a visual appearance beyond shape, giving it actual, real color.
- Real color may be reproduced during manufacturing capable of rendering colored material.
- A triangle's real color may be used to define face groups for various purposes.
T&C may also be used to represent data that is not immediately apparent or visible, forming a false-color visualization.
- The result of comparing the shape of two meshes against each other is yet another mesh with color information where a color from a gradient visualizes the negative or positive distance, if any, of a triangle node from the reference part's surface.
- The result of the wall thickness analysis is color information that visualizes where the thickness threshold was matched or exceeded, respectively.
- 3D models and slice vectors have display colors as a visual aid to tell them apart and to tell which ones in the 2D and 3D view and in the project tree.
- Face group colors are visual cues, too, and are independent of a model's actual or display colors.
What are Netfabb's capacities to modify texture and color?
Color information can be changed at the triangle level, although not directly per individual vertex. However, color gradients may optionally be enabled which uses per-vertex coloring to transition between a triangle's newly assigned color and the existing color of adjacent triangles.
New textures may be applied and existing textures may be replaced. This can be from an image file
as well as an item from the built-in library of example textures (also located at <Netfabb installation folder>\Textures)
