The Strategy dialog enables you to specify the parameters and requirements of a toolpath. The name of a Strategy dialog changes depending on the strategy you select from the Strategy Selector dialog. The pages available on a Strategy vary depending on the strategy you select, and the category that strategy belongs to.
Each Strategy dialog has the following common controls:
Recycle toolpath — Click to edit the parameters of the toolpath you have just created, and then recalculate it. The new toolpath will overwrite the previous one.
Copy toolpath — Click to create a copy of the toolpath you have just created. The copy has the same parameters as the original toolpath, but isn't calculated. The name is the same as the original toolpath, but with the addition of _1. You can change any parameters you want and recalculate the toolpath.
- Toolpath name — Enter the name of the toolpath. This name appears in the Explorer.
- Calculate — Click to calculate the toolpath and leaves the dialog displayed.
- Queue — Click to check that all the parameters used to calculate the toolpath are acceptable, add the toolpath to the calculation queue and close the dialog. The toolpath is calculated in the background when PowerMill would otherwise be idle.
- OK — Click to save the current values in the dialog and close the dialog without calculating the toolpath. This creates a batched toolpath which is processed when you select either Batch from the individual toolpath menu, or Batch Process from the Toolpaths context menu.
- Cancel — Click to close the dialog without saving any of the toolpath parameters.
