Max_Pseudo_Time_Step_Size

Summary: Control solution stability of radiation analyses.

Flag

Max_Pseudo_Time_Step_Size A

A = the maximum allowable time step size

Description

If the temperature solution changes too rapidly in a radiation analysis, you can control the solution by specifying a maximum pseudo time step size. This effectively reduces how much the temperature can change from one iteration to the next by limiting the time increment of each iteration.

Autodesk® CFD writes out the fluid time step size and the thermal time step size to the ".sol" file.

  • If the solution goes unstable when the thermal time step size > 1000, try reducing the Max_Pseudo_Time_Step_Size to 500 or 300.
  • If it continues to fail, reduce the Max_Pseudo_Time_Step_Size even lower.
