Identify orphaned items
You may use a change notice (CN) to identify orphaned items within an End Item in a single project. A change notice orphan is an item version that has been previously ordered in a specific BOM location but is no longer in the BOM at that location. Orphaned items may subsequently be returned or have their historical quantity (H Qty) redistributed to a new item version or BOM location.
In the Upchain web app, create a CN for the End Item in which you want to identify orphans.
The CN window loads.
Click Edit.
Click Show Orphaned.
The Orphaned items pop-up window opens.
View the list of orphaned items
A CN's Orphaned items window has two buttons that enable you to view orphaned items as Filtered or Full list.
Filtered | Full list |
---|---|
The orphans listed when you select Filtered are based on:
|
All unresolved orphans that once belonged to the same End Item-project relationship as the assemblies sent to the CN. |
Toggle between filtered and full view of orphaned items
When you click Show Orphaned in a CN, the Orphaned items – Filtered view window lists only orphans associated with your selections in the CN by default. If you want to see all orphans in the selected assembly, click Full list, the Orphaned items – full view opens.
- Once a CN workflow is completed, only the Orphaned items – Filtered view is available. Full list and Filtered buttons will be inactive.
- If you select a new item in the CN, you will need to reopen the Orphaned items window to update the information in this window.
