Edit a workflow
A workflow has versions in the same way that items do to track all changes made to the workflow. This is important because this helps you understand how your own business processes may have evolved over time and allows you to return to previous versions should new ones not work out as expected.
While a workflow version is in a Draft state, you can edit and save it as many times as you want. Because your workflow can become quite complex, it is important to save often so that you do not lose your work.
Once a workflow version is published, it cannot be edited. You need to create a new version of the workflow to make any required changes. This is explained here.
To edit a workflow:
Click the edit icon (
) located beside the workflow name.
A lock and your name appears at the top to ensure no one else can edit the workflow at the same time.
Make any desired changes such as:
- Adding a primitive.
- Cloning a primitive.
- Editing a primitive’s settings.
- Removing a primitive.
- Connecting primitives using sequence flows to show the happy paths and/or exception paths.
To save your workflow changes:
- Click the more options icon (
).
- Select Save.
Your changes are saved, the lock on the workflow is removed, and other Tenant Administrators can see your changes and edit the workflow.
To discard your workflow changes:
- Click the more options icon (
).
- Select Cancel.
Your changes are discarded, the lock on the workflow is removed, and the workflow returns to the state in was in before you began editing.
