About Lattice Commander

What is it?

Lattice Commander is a tool for generating lattices and walls ("skins") from meshes.

Lattice Commander requires a Netfabb Premium or Ultimate subscription.

Lattice Commander is a module.

When should I use it?

Use Lattice Commander when you need to:

• Edit individual beams or junctions
• Edit sections of skins or lattice
• Control regions where lattices should or should not appear
• Manage multiple latticed volumes and shell skins simultaneously
• Post-process lattices from 3S
• Finalize components from Autodesk® Optimization Utility for Netfabb®

What are its key features?

• Generate a thickness gradient: Make beams gradually thicker or thinner in a particular direction across the latticed volume
• Snap separate lattices together.
• Generate the final part from lattice, skin, and mesh volume directly in a one-button-click manner.
• Generate linear tetrahedral mesh directly, suitable for FEA like NASTRAN.
• The Lattice Commander's state is saved in the FABBPROJECT file.

Where and what are the main controls of Lattice Commander?

1. Using the main menu, Lattice Commander can be found at Modify > Lattice Commander.
2. The project tree holds all loaded and created elements, grouped and branched appropriately.
3. The context view holds information and functions applicable to the current selection within Lattice Commander.
4. The display holds the graphical representation of the component and its bodies. Together with the clip planes, Netfabb's camera controls via perspective and focus controls in the toolbar and the mouse controls, it allows visual examination of your latticing work.

Finally, Lattice Commander does not have any configuration in Settings > Settings.
