Create duplicates of parts and slices quickly and easily
Jump to:
What is it?
Copy & Paste provides a quick access to the duplicating function of Netfabb using simple, familiar keystrokes. With it, you can quickly generate duplicates of existing parts and slices.
TopHow do I access it?
The controls for copying and pasting are located in the main menu and in context menus, both in the project tree and in the display view. Most significantly, they are available through keyboard shortcuts, Ctrl+C for copying and Ctrl+V for pasting, as used in many other software products, too.
TopWhat are the key features?
- Copying and pasting duplicates position, orientation, size, and support structures.
- Duplication works across platforms and build rooms. (With exceptions. Some machines restrict this.)
- Copying a part or a slice stack for pasting is
independent from the regular clipboard as provided by, say, the operating system, and works in parallel to it.
Example:
- Copy a bit of text to the clipboard that you want to use for a part name.
- Copy a part that you wish to duplicate.
- Paste the part.
- Choose and paste the text into the name field.
Anything to watch out for?
Because copying & pasting of parts and slice stacks is actually a shortcut to the functions that the part duplication dialog provides, it requires that the original part still exists during pasting. If you delete or modify the original part in certain ways after copying, such as scaling or moving, what you paste will either be nothing or will have the size, position, and orientation of the original part at the time of pasting, not at the time of copying.
