To import digitised curves from a file

PowerInspect can import curves created with other software, or use digitised curves exported from other PowerInspect documents. PowerInspect creates a Digitised Curve item for each curve found in the file.

Note: The Curve From File option is available only when creating inspections for CNC and Manual machines.
  1. Open the group into which you want to import the curve.
  2. Choose Geometry > Features > Curves > Curve From File.
  3. In the Import File Details dialog, select the file containing the curves you want to import.
  4. Select how to import measurements:
    • CAD. Imports the measurements as CAD coordinates.
    • CMM. Imports the measurements as machine coordinates.
  5. If you import IGES files, set the following:
    • To create one curve item from all the curves in a group. select Process Groups. To create a curve item for each curve in a group, select Process Groups .
    • To use the curve items already used in the file, select Preserve IGES Names. To use standard PowerInspect naming schemes, deselect Preserve IGES Names.
  6. If you import VDA files, set the following:
    • To create one curve item for each point sequence in the file, select Create New Sequence Items For Each Point Sequence.
    • To create one curve item for each set of sequences in the file, select Create New Sequence Items For Each Set.
