Stock Model dialog

Use the Stock Model dialog to specify the parameters of the stock model.

To display the Stock Model dialog:

  • From the Stock Models context menu, select Create Stock Model;
  • From the individual stock models context menu, select Settings; or
  • Click Stock Model tab > Create panel > Stock Model.

This dialog contains the following:

Name — Enter the name of the stock model.

Lock — Click to lock the stock model so that its parameters cannot be changed. When a stock model is locked, the button changes to and all the parameter fields become 'read-only'. Click the button again to unlock the stock model. PowerMill automatically locks a Stock Model when it is used by another entity.

Tolerance — Enter the tolerance of a slice when creating a new stock model. The stock model is stored as a set of closed slices of the solid stock in X and Y. You cannot change this value after the stock model state has been calculated.

Stepover — Enter the distance between slices. You cannot change this value after the stock model state has been calculated.

Workplane — Select a workplane to define the orientation of the stock model. You cannot change the workplane after the stock model has been calculated.

Refresh — Click to refresh the display of the rest material. You can refresh rest material only if you select the Drawing Options > Show Rest Material option on the individual stock model menu. This option is only required when you change the model, or the Rest thickness.

Rest thickness — Enter the minimum thickness displayed when using the Stock Model tab > Draw panel > Material > Show Rest Materialoption. The stock model ignores rest material thinner than this threshold. It is similar to the Detect material thicker than option on the Boundary dialog.

Detect overhang(s) — Select to detect and include overhangs in the rest stock model calculation. This increases the calculation time significantly. Your model must be a watertight solid for overhangs to be calculated.
