Copy Design – Numbering Panel

The Numbering Panel lists all of the files that are assigned for copy. Each file is listed with its original name and the name of the copied file.

Note: Control which schemes display in the Numbering panel on the Numbering Schemes dialog.

Within the Numbering panel, the files are listed under the scheme grid. The scheme panel only shows the files under a given scheme and allows you to change the editable fields. Right-click on the file and select the Change Scheme option to change the scheme for a file.

Apply a numbering scheme to a copy operation

  1. Select the Numbering panel to see all files assigned for copy.

  2. Select a numbering scheme from the button list to apply that scheme.

  3. Depending on the selected scheme, you may be prompted to:

    • Fill out prefix and suffix fields
    • Complete a find and replace
    • Select options from a pre-defined list
    • Enter a text value
Note: Auto-generated numbers are not applied until the copy operation for the listed files successfully completes.

When the copy operation completes, the selected naming scheme and user-prompted values are applied to the copied files.

Modify Values with Copy and Paste

Within the numbering panel, you can modify the editable values by using the copy paste operation. You can change prefixes, suffixes, or other editable columns by copying and editing multiple row values in the Excel spreadsheet and then pasting the updated values back in the Copy Design.

To modify the editable fields:

  • Select the rows or fields to be edited and copy them into an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Edit the values in the Excel spreadsheet and paste the new values into the Copy Design Numbering panel.
Note: There is a limitation that if you copy/paste value from one column to another within the dialog, and not use the Excel spreadsheet to edit the values, the value gets inserted with the column header.
