Open and Create Viewpoints
Open a Viewpoint
To access the Viewpoints panel and open a viewpoint:
In Model Coordination, go to the Views tool and open a view.
In the viewer, click the Viewpoints tab
on the left panel.
The Viewpoints panel opens, displaying a list of viewpoints associated with the view:
In the Viewpoints panel you can:
- Search for viewpoints by name.
- Filter the list using tags or by creator.
- Sort the list alphabetically or by creation date.
- Hover over the tag icon
next to a viewpoint to see its associated tags.
- Click the more menu
next to a viewpoint to edit or delete it.
Click a viewpoint in the list to open it in the viewer.
The viewpoint is navigated to within the current view, and the associated sectioning, levels, object property filters, and hidden object settings are displayed.
Click Reset changes in the Viewpoints panel to return to the saved view.
This removes the filters and settings associated with the viewpoint, restoring those saved with the view.
Note: Camera angles associated with viewpoints are not reset. Use the ViewCube to reorient your viewing angle as needed.
Create a Viewpoint
To create a viewpoint:
Apply the object filters, spatial settings, and camera orientation that you want to save as a viewpoint:
Use the basic or advanced object property filters on the Model Browser
panel to exclude specific model objects.
Apply spatial filters such as sections, levels, or hide model objects.
Tip: For some file types, hidden objects might not be saved with the viewpoint due to unstable model element IDs.Use the ViewCube or the navigation tools on the model viewing toolbars to position the camera angle and orientation.
Click Save viewpoint in the Viewpoints panel.
Enter a name for the viewpoint.
Optionally, select tags to add to the viewpoint for easier identification. You can either:
- Select a tag from the drop-down list.
- Type a name in the Tags field to search for a tag.
- Type a new tag name in the Tags field and click Create option to create a tag.
Use the checkboxes to specify whether your viewpoint includes sectioning, hidden objects, and filters.
Note: These checkbox settings can't be edited later.Click Save.
Note: If you use the Modelspanel to add or remove models from the viewer and then try to create a viewpoint, you will be prompted to update the view first.
