You can specify the depth of cut for each tool used in a cycle or let PartMaker automatically calculate the depth. In either case, leave the depth field in the Cycles dialog empty. For drills, taps, end mills, reamers, and boring bars, the depth of cut is calculated based on the following:
- Tool geometry specified in the Tools dialog
- Hole depth specified in the Hole Group Parameters dialog
Note: For chamfering tools, the depth of cut depends on the tool geometry and hole diameter. For center drills, the default depth specified in the
Tools dialog is used. You can use the
Hole Group Parameters dialog to check the results of automatic depth calculations.
Verifying the cross section of a hole
You can view the vertical cross section of a programmed hole using the Verify Shape option in the Hole Group Parameters dialog. This feature allows you to quickly find programming errors.
