PartMaker supports a circular hole milling canned cycle that you can configure using ConfigPost. If your CNC machine does not support this type of cycle, PartMaker generates the toolpath automatically.
When milling circular holes, note that:
- The number of circular moves PartMaker generates depends on the difference between the diameter of the pre-drilled hole and the diameter of the final hole.
- The radial step (radius increment of successive circles) is specified in the Tool Data dialog.
- Cutting in the Z direction is performed in steps until the final depth is reached.
- The Post file uses milling subprograms, when available.
- If you use the circular milling cycle with a chamfering tool, PartMaker calculates the depth of the chamfering operation using an edge clearance option. Edge clearance is measured from the bottom of the tool to the start of the cutting edge.
- When you choose the circular milling cycle, you can select a milling tool with a smaller diameter than the final hole diameter.
- Select CIRCLE MILL as the canned cycle in the Cycles Data dialog.
- When you click the Select Tool button on the Cycles Data dialog , you can select a milling tool with a smaller diameter than the final hole diameter.
