Where Used Logic

  1. The point in time is calculated based on the open item.

  2. If the open item is effective today, or if it is the working version or unreleased revision, Today is used as the point in time.

  3. If the open item is no longer effective, the Last Day on which the item was in effect is used as the point in time.

  4. If the open item will be effective in the future, the First Day on which it becomes effective is used as the point in time.

  5. If a parent item is not using the open item's revision at the calculated point in time, it does not appear in the Where Used list even if it did use the open item's revision at another point in time.

Example: Assembly A has two revisions: Revision 1 and Revision 2. Revision 1 used a Part P but Revision 2 replaced Part P with Part Q. Part P has only one revision. When looking at the Where Used list for Part P, Assembly A is not on the list because it is no longer using that part.
