Creating grooves at an angle (PartMaker)

PartMaker enables you to machine grooves at an angle. For example:

To create a groove at an angle:

  1. Determine the angle of the tool needed to make the groove. In this example, the angle is 45.
  2. Use the Tool Data dialog to create a grooving tool where the tool shank uses the X-axis.
  3. Click Tool Properties on the Tool Data dialog to display the Tool Properties dialog, and specify a Shank Inclination Angle (B) value of 45 (so the tool angle matches the groove you want to machine).

  4. Use the Profile Group Parameters dialog to create a profile group for machining the groove, remembering to select the grooving tool you created in Step 2.

  5. Assign a profile to the group by selecting the relevant geometry in the Face window.

  6. Verify the toolpath by selecting Part Features > Verify Work Group Toolpath and view the results in the Face window.
