The Time Editor uses a default Ghost object (such as a skeleton stick figure for rigs), for clips, but sometimes you may need the Ghost to depict something else. For example, aside from the skeleton, complex rigs can have multiple hierarchies of controllers, helpers, and deformers. Define your own clip Ghosts if the default does not satisfy your needs.
Note: Avoid combining the
Ghosting Editor with
Time Editor and
Animation Layer Ghosts, as currently this produces unpredictable results.
To define a custom clip Ghost
- Right-click the clip(s) you want to define a Ghost for and select Time Editor Clip contextual menu. The User Defined Ghost window appears. from the
- In the Outliner or Viewport, select the object(s) you want to use in place of the Time Editor's default Ghost (for example, an animation controller).
- In the User Defined Ghost window, click Add to add the object(s) to the Objects to be used for Ghosting list. If you want the objects to which the selected object is the parent, click Add with children. (For example, if you choose a wrist controller, do you want to also include attached fingers?)
- Click Apply.
Changing the color of a Time Editor clip Ghost
The ghost is the same color as the corresponding clip. To customize the clip Ghost colors, choose a new color in the Layer area of the Clip information in the Attribute Editor.
