Use the Cut distances page to control the number of profile cuts. The options on this page are dependent on the selected strategy.
Vertical
These options specify the vertical extents of the cut:
Extent — Select an option to determine the vertical extents of the machining area.
- Limits — The block Z limits. In this case, you only need to specify a maximum Stepdown.
- Stock depth — An absolute value, above Floor Z. In this case, you must specify a Stock depth (d) and a maximum Stepdown.
- Number of cuts — The number of cuts. In this case, you must specify a Number of cuts and a Stepdown.
Stock depth — Enter the total depth of material to remove.
Stepdown — Enter the maximum distance between successive passes.
Copy stepdown from tool
— Click to load the axial depth of cut from the active
tool's cutting data. The axial depth of cut is measured along the tool axis. If you enter the value manually, the button changes to
.
Horizontal
These options specify the horizontal extents of the cut:
Extent — Select an option to determine the horizontal extents of the machining area.
- Limits — The block XY limits. In this case, you only need specify a Stepover.
- Stock width — An absolute value from the profile curve. In this case, you must specify a Stock width and a Stepover.
- Number of cuts — The number of cuts at each level. In this case, you must specify a Number of cuts and a Stepover.
Stock width — Enter the total width of material to remove.
Stepover — Enter the distance beteween adjacent passes.
Copy stepover from tool — Click to load the radial depth of cut from the active
tool's cutting data. The radial depth of cut is measured normal to the tool axis. If you enter the value manually, the button changes to
.
