Retraction

Use the Retraction page to control how far and at what speed the drill retracts up the hole between pecks.

Retract — Select how far the drill retracts between pecks.

  • Full — The drill retracts up to the Safe area between pecks.
  • Partial — The drill retracts up to the Clear plane between pecks. When you select this option, you can specify a Distance from top value to define how far from the top of the hole the tool should retract between pecks. You can use a negative value to prevent the tool from completely leaving the hole.

Retract at rapid — When selected, the drill retracts up the hole at the Rapid feed rate. When deselected, the drill retracts at the Feed rate entered in this dialog.

Feed rate — Enter the absolute retraction feed rate rather than using the cutting feed rate. This option is available only when Retract at rapid is deselected.

Feed rate factor — Enter the factor which determines the feed rate reduction (or increase) as the drill retracts up the hole. A value of 2 increases the retract feed rate to twice the drilling feed rate. Multiplying the Cutting feed rate by this factor gives the retraction feed rate. This option is available only when Retract at rapid is deselected. Entering a value here updates the Feed Rate.
