Translations during item release

In order to generate released versions of PDF and DWG translations, your Tenant Administrator must have enabled the tenant properties drawing.create.pdf and drawing.create.dwg respectively. Your Tenant Administrator must have also enabled the tenant property drawing.populate.title.block.codes in order for Upchain to convert drawing attribute codes to their corresponding values.

The tenant property drawing.populate.original.pdf determines how the released PDF translation is generated. When it is enabled, the PDF is generated from the original PDF translation as generated by your CAD system when the CAD file was checked in, meaning the released PDF matches the original PDF. Drawing codes are also converted directly in the PDF. When it is disabled, Upchain first converts any drawing attribute codes within the DWG file and saves the file. This becomes the released version of the DWG file. This DWG is then saved to a PDF file, and this becomes the released version of the PDF. In other words, the released PDF translation relies on the final DWG translation. This is different to how these two translations are generated using the CAD plugin.

Fonts on the drawings

When the drawing codes are converted to their corresponding values, the fonts used depend on how the released DWG and PDF translations are generated.

When the PDF is generated from the DWG, Upchain uses the fonts listed here. This means that as long as the DWG translation is generated with one of these fonts, the final released DWG and PDF translations will retain that font.

When the released PDF is generated directly from the original PDF, Upchain uses the fonts listed here.

Important: The DWG and PDF files are generated from your CAD system using your local CAD settings. It is recommended that all users at your organization use the same settings so that there is consistency in the DWG and PDF translations across all items.
