To select triangles by property

Make your selection by edge length, for example

While repairing a part, rather than selecting triangles visually, you can have Netfabb make a selection by specifying numerical criteria, such as a range of areas values.

Tip: You can begin with some triangles already selected. The triangle selection by property is capable of adding to or subtracting from any current selection.

Jump to:

To select triangles and shells by values

  1. Choose Advanced from the main menu.
  2. Select any of the available criteria.
  3. Activate or deactivate thresholds.
  4. Adjust the values as necessary.
Tip: Instead of typing in the values, you can click and drag across the bars in the histogram presented in the lower half of the dialog.
  5. Click Select to select the triangles that meet the area criteria. If Keep this window open is unchecked, this will also close dialog.

To combine selections

Selections can be made cumulatively by using the same or different criteria with adjusted thresholds. To do so, use them in succession until you're satisfied, then leave the dialog.

For instance, to select all narrow (meaning "low-quality") triangles within a downskin, you could first select the downskin triangles, then deselect all triangles of a quality value higher than desired.

  1. Choose Advanced from the main menu.
  2. In the selection dialog, check Keep this window open.
  3. Select triangles or shells using the first criterion.
  4. Switch to the next criterion and/or adjust the thresholds, then click Select to add more triangles to the selection, or Unselect to remove any applicable triangles from the current selection. Repeat as desired.
  5. Once you're happy with your selection, click Accept.

To reset, accept or cancel the selection

While making your selection using Select and Unselect, you may want to start new, keep the current selection and continue working with it, or cancel selecting and do something else entirely. To do so, use the buttons at the bottom. Here is a recap of what these buttons do:

Select Unselect Clear all Accept Cancel
  • Adds all triangles that match the current criteria setting to the current selection
  • Removes all triangles that match the current criteria setting from the current selection
  • Removes all triangles from the selection, including those which were selected before opening Advanced Triangle Selection.
  • Makes no further changes to the current selection and closes the dialog.
  • Removes all triangles from the selection and closes the dialog.
