To create a Guided Section Group

Use a Guided Section Group to measure sections at specified locations. Use them when you want to ensure that specific positions are measured, or when you want to measure the same points in each Measure of a document.

Note: Guided Section groups are available only when creating inspections for CNC and Manual machines.

To create a Guided Section Group:

  1. Click Form tab > Sections panel > Guided. The Section dialog is displayed.
  2. Edit the group settings, and then click OK to close the dialog and create the group.
  3. Play the group. PowerInspect displays a confirmation message.
  4. Click Yes. PowerInspect switches to full-screen mode and displays the Section Inspection dialog.
  5. Specify points on the section by probing the part.
  6. When you have specified the points, click to close the dialog and return to the CAD view.
  7. In the inspection sequence, right-click the group, and then select Reset Item from the context menu.
  8. Play the group again. PowerInspect switches to full-screen mode and displays the Guided Points dialog. The positions of the points are shown as arrows on the model.
  9. Probe the points indicated by the targets. The progress bar at the bottom of the Guided Points dialog shows how close the probe is to the guided point. When the bar is displayed in green, the probe is within tolerance.
  10. When you have finished, click to close the dialog.
