Start point - turning strategy

Start point specifies the location of the tool at the start of a turning toolpath.

Use these options to specify the method for defining the start point.

Use — Select the location of the start point.

  • First point — The start point is positioned at the specified distance from the first point in the toolpath, measured above the toolpath.
  • Absolute — The start point is positioned independently of all other properties at the point defined by the Coordinates field.

Approach distance — Enter the length of the approach move at the start of the toolpath. This option is only available when you select a Use of First point.

Coordinates — Enter the coordinates to define the position of the start point. This option is only available when you select a Use of Absolute.

— Click to display the Position dialog. Use the dialog to manually enter coordinates and locate items in the graphics window.

Feed from start point — Select this option to use a feed move from the start point to the beginning of the toolpath. Specify a percentage of the total cutting feed rate that the tool uses during this move.
