Working with Other Autodesk Applications

From TruPlan, you can create files for:

  • Autodesk Nesting Utility: Nest shapes while optimizing material yield from flat raw material cutting operations.
  • Autodesk TruFiber: Manage manufacturing processes and generate tool paths with their associated NC codes for manufacturing.

Create a Nest for Autodesk Nesting Utility

From a TruPlan project, create a nest that you can manage with Autodesk Nesting Utility. You must have Nesting Utility installed to be able to work on the nest after it is created.

  1. Check that you have:
    • Included whichever strategies and sub-plies you want to be a part of the nest
    • Generated and enabled their related flat patterns
  2. Double-click the active manufacturing configuration in the TruPlan Browser to check that your Nesting Data Options are appropriate.
  3. Right-click the root node in the TruPlan browser and select Create Nest.
  4. Follow the steps for creating a nest from an Inventor file as described in the Nesting Utility Help.

Save Your Part for Autodesk TruFiber

  1. Make sure your manufacturing configurations are set and that your preferred configuration is active.
  2. In Inventor, save the file as an IPT (Inventor Parts) file.
