Create a midplane

Learn how to use the Midplane tool to create a construction plane at equal distances from two faces or planes in Fusion.

  1. On the toolbar, select Construct > Midplane midplane icon.

    The Midplane dialog displays.

  2. In the canvas, select the first face or plane.

  3. Select the second face or plane.

  4. Click OK.

The new construction plane displays in the canvas, positioned an equal distance from each face or plane you selected.

Tips

  • Create construction planes when you want to create sketches that do not lie on one of the 3 default planes.
  • Use construction planes as the input for other tools, like the cutting tool for the Split Body tool.
  • Use a Midplane as a cutting tool to split a body precisely in half.
