Alerts

An Alert is used to state the criteria that define an event, or an occurrence within the network, for example, critical pressure at a node.

Alerts can be assigned different user-defined priorities, according to importance to the network.

Alerts are represented to the InfoWorks ICM user either in a grid, or as a theme in the GeoPlan.

In InfoWorks ICM, there are four different entities that are linked to the concept of alerts, two of which are database objects:

  • Alert definition - defines the criteria on which an actual alert instance will be generated. Alert definitions are configured in alert definition lists.
  • Alert definition list (database object) - contains alert definitions for objects that can be targets to alerts. These objects can be all network objects.
  • Alert instances - actual occurring of an alert.
  • Alert instance list (database object) - contains alert instances that are automatically generated whenever an alert definition list is dragged onto an open simulation.

Alert Generation

For alerts to be generated, one or more alert definitions must be created within an alert definition list. An Alert Instance list is generated by InfoWorks ICM whenever an alert definition list is dragged onto an open simulation.

Alerts instances are represented in various areas of InfoWorks ICM :

For use in ICMLive Operator Client, this alert definition list must be attached to a deployed manifest object. Manifests contain all the information necessary for an ICMLive system (i.e default simulation, run schedule and display options) and are then attached to a manifest deployment object along with themes and layer lists. The manifest deployment must then be deployed so it becomes available in ICMLive Operator Client.

In ICMLive Operator Client, alerts instances can be seen in the Alerts Window grid, on the GeoPlan via the use of themes, in results graphs and in the Summary Window of the Overview page. See the ICMLive Operator Client help for more information.
