Alert Definition List Validation Messages

This topic lists network validation messages displayed in the Output Window when an alert definition list is validated.

Key to Messages

Left Column

The error message number is used internally by InfoWorks ICM. This number is unique, and may be useful when contacting us.

Centre Column

Name:	The error or warning message that is displayed.
Info:	Additional information about the error or warning, such as the name of the network object where the anomaly occurred
Cause:	Why the message has been displayed
Advice:	What, if anything, you need to do about it.

Right Column

	Information only - no further action needed
	Warning - action may be required
	Error - action necessary

List of Validation Messages

The table below displays the list of validation messages that will be displayed in the Output Window. Click on the message text for further information.

E0000

A (unique) Alert Definition ID is required

Info	Alert Definition List
Cause	An alert definition is missing an Alert Definition ID.
Advice	Type in an Alert Definition ID for that alert definition.

E0001

Alert definition ID must be unique

Info	Alert definition ID
Cause	At least two alert definitions have got the same ID.
Advice	Change the Alert Definition ID of one of the two alert definitions.

E0002

Alert definition ID clashes with an internal SQL variable name

Info	Alert definition ID
Cause	The name of the alert definition entered in the Alert Definition ID field is not allowed as it can be interpreted by InfoWorks ICM as an SQL variable.
Advice	Rename the alert definition. The ID should contain only alphanumeric characters, numbers and the “_” character (no spaces allowed).

E0003

Alert definition ID should only contain alphanumeric characters and the '_' symbol

Info	Alert definition ID
Cause	The value entered in the Alert Definition ID field is not of the correct format.
Advice	Check the Alert Definition ID field.

E0004

Transform is invalid

Info	Transform
Cause	The Transform field of the alert definition is not valid.
Advice	Type in or select a suitable value in Transform.

E0005

Target type A is invalid

Info	Target type A
Cause	The Target type A field of the alert definition is invalid or null (empty cell).
Advice	Type in or select a suitable type in Target type A.

E0006

Target A has not been defined

Info	Target A
Cause	The Target A field is empty or has been assigned an incorrect value.
Advice	Type in or select a suitable value in Target A.

E0007

Target field A has not been defined

Info	Target field A
Cause	The Target field A field is empty for the alert definition.
Advice	Type in a value or select from the dropdown list.

E0008

Target A is <SELECTION LIST> but the selection list is empty

Info	Target selection list A
Cause	The Target A field has been set to <SELECTION LIST> but no selection list has been specified in the Target selection list A field.
Advice	Check the Target selection list A field by clicking on the button adjacent to it.

E0009

Target type A is <EXPRESSION> but the expression is undefined

Info	Target expression A
Cause	The Target type A field has been set to <EXPRESSION> but no expression has been specified in the Target expression A field.
Advice	Check the Target expression A field by clicking on the button adjacent to it.

E0010

The comparison operator is invalid

Info	Comparison operator
Cause	The Comparison operator field of the alert definition has been left empty or has been filled in with an incorrect value.
Advice	Check the Comparison operator field.

E0011

Target field B should not be defined when target type B is fixed value

Info	Target B
Cause	The Target type B field has been set to <FIXED VALUE> but Target field B field has been defined, which is mutually exclusive.
Advice	Either set Target type B field to any permitted value other than <FIXED VALUE> or leave the Target field B field blank.

E0012

Target type B is fixed value, but Target B is null

Info	Target B
Cause	The Target type B field has been set to <FIXED VALUE> but no value has been specified in the Target B field.
Advice	Check the Target B field.

E0013

Target type B is invalid

Info	Target type B
Cause	The Target type B field of the alert definition has been left empty or has been filled in with an incorrect value.
Advice	Check the Target type B field.

E0014

Target field B has not been defined

Info	Target field B
Cause	The Target field B field is empty for the alert definition.
Advice	Type in a value or select from the dropdown list.

E0015

Tolerance must be defined for this comparison operator

Info	Tolerance
Cause	The Tolerance field is empty for the alert definition.
Advice	Type in a value for the field.

E0016

Visibility is invalid

Info	Visibility
Cause	The value entered in the Visibility field is not valid.
Advice	Check the Visibility field and ensure a permitted value is selected.

E0017

The alert contains a circular dependency in its combination logic

Info	Target expression A
Cause	The expression specified in the Target expression A field contains a circular reference (e.g. alert definition referring to itself).
Advice	Check the Target expression A field by clicking on the button adjacent to it. This displays the Target expression A dialog.

E0018

The alert contains an undefined dependency in its combination logic

Info	Target expression A
Cause	The expression specified in the Target expression A field contains an undefined parameter.
Advice	Check the Target expression A field by clicking on the button adjacent to it. This displays the Target expression A dialog.

E0019

Minimum duration should be of the form <n1><u1><n2><u2>... where <n1>, <n2>, etc are integers and <u1>, <u2>, etc are unit specifiers (d, h, or m). For example, 10h30m

Info	Minimum duration
Cause	The value entered in the Minimum duration field is not of the right format.
Advice	Check that the field value is of the form specified in the error message.

E0020

Time window start should be of the form [-]<n1><u1><n2><u2>... where <n1>, <n2>, etc are integers and <u1>, <u2>, etc are unit specifiers (d, h, or m). For example, 10h30m

Info	Time window start
Cause	The value entered in the Time window start field is not of the right format.
Advice	Check that the field value is of the form specified in the error message.

E0021

Time window end should be of the form [-]<n1><u1><n2><u2>... where <n1>, <n2>, etc are integers and <u1>, <u2>, etc are unit specifiers (d, h, or m). For example, 10h30m

Info	Time window end
Cause	The value entered in the Time window end field is not of the right format.
Advice	Check that the field value is of the form specified in the error message.

E0022

Summation period should be of the form <n1><u1><n2><u2>... where <n1>, <n2>, etc are integers and <u1>, <u2>, etc are unit specifiers (d, h, or m). For example, 10h30m

Info	Summation period
Cause	The value entered in the Summation period field does not have the required format.
Advice	Check the Summation period field.

E0023

Summation period must be defined for 'Sum over period' or 'Integral over period' transform

Info	Summation period
Cause	No value has been entered in the Summation period field of the alert definition.
Advice	Check that a value has been entered in the field.

E0024

Transforms are only available for Target type B equal to <FIXED VALUE>

Info	Transform
Cause	A transformation has been applied but the value specified in Target type B is incompatible with a transformation.
Advice	Check that either a value is specified in the Transform field when Target type B is set to <FIXED VALUE> or set the Transform field to ' ' (empty) if Target type B is not configured to be a <FIXED VALUE>.

E0025

The field must be a valid results field

Info	Target field A / B
Cause	The Target field A or the Target field B field of the alert definition is invalid (misspelling).
Advice	Type in or select a suitable field in Target field A or Target field B.

E0026

Target field A is <SQL> but the SQL body is undefined

Info	Target SQL body A
Cause	<SQL> has been selected in the Target Field A field but no SQL has been entered in the Target SQL body A dialog.
Advice	Enter a valid SQL query in the dialog.

E0027

Dead time should be of the form <n1><u1><n2><u2>...where <n1>, <n2>, etc are integers and <u1>, <u2>, etc are unit specifiiers (d, h or m). For example 10h30m

Info	Dead time
Cause	The value entered in the Dead time field does not have the required format.
Advice	Check that the value entered in the Dead time field is in the required format.

E0028

Active window start time should be of the form hh:mm where hh and mm are integers for hours and minutes. For example, 14:30

Info	Active window start
Cause	The value entered in the Active window start field does not have the required format.
Advice	Check that the value entered in the Active window start field is in the required format.

E0029

Active window end time should be of the form hh:mm where hh and mm are integers for hours and minutes. For example, 23:59

Info	Active window start
Cause	The value entered in the Active window end field does not have the required format.
Advice	Check that the value entered in the Active window end field is in the required format.

E0030

Active window needs both a start and end time

Info	Active window start
Cause	No time has been specified in either the Active window start or the Active window end field.
Advice	Ensure that a time is entered both the Active window start and Active window end fields and that it is specified in the required hh:mm format (where hh and mm are integers for hours and minutes, for example, 21:05).

W0000

The time window start is at a later time than, or equal time to, the time window end

Info	Time window start
Cause	The time value entered in the Time window start field is the same as (or happens chronologically after) the time value of the Time window end.
Advice	Check the Time window start field.

W0001

Priority is undefined

Info	Priority
Cause	The Priority field of the alert definition is empty.
Advice	Type in a priority.

W0002

Category is undefined

Info	Summation period
Cause	The Category field of the alert definition is empty.
Advice	Type in a category.
