Editing Object Parameters

You can adjust the general modelling data for all types of object on the Grid Windows or property sheets.

Some types of data, such as tabular data, will only be available on the property sheets. Some other fields, mainly information or additional data fields, are only available on the Grid Windows.

Editing in the Grid Windows

To open the Grid Window for editing data

  1. With the network open (another view on the network is the Current Active Window) click:
    • (New Nodes Grid ) or choose Grid windowsNew nodes window from the Window menu to open the Nodes Grid
    • (New Links Grid) or choose Grid windowsNew links window from the Window menu to open the Links Grid

    • (New Polygons Grid) or choose Grid windowsNew polygons window from the Window menu to open the Polygons Grid
    • (New Points Grid) or choose Grid windowsNew points window from the Window menu to open the Points Grid
  2. Use the tabs at the bottom of the view to select the appropriate grid for the object type you wish to edit

To open the grid at the correct row

  1. From the GeoPlan Window, select the Information tool . The cursor changes to .
  2. Hold the CTRL key and click the object you want to edit. If more than one object is under the cursor, you will be offered a choice.

The appropriate property sheet will be opened.

To open the property sheet from the Grid Window double-click on the appropriate row

Other Editing Tools

In general, you will change individual parameters for a network object in the normal way, using the grids or property sheets.

InfoWorks ICM does supply some tools to facilitate making the same changes to more than one network object. You can select:

  • A block of cells on a Grid Window, and make adjustments to the parameters of the selected cells. See Editing Data in Grid Windows for more information.
  • Several network objects and make changes to one or more parameters of the selected objects. The procedure for this is described in Adjusting Parameters for Selected Objects.
  • Several nodes or links and adjust their x and ycoordinates. Adjusting links will make changes to any intermediate points on a link containing bends. See Editing Network Object Geometry for more information

There are also many specialist tools described in the rest of this section for making mainly geographical adjustments to specific object types.
