Remove a value from a picklist

There are two options when removing a value from a picklist:

• Use the Enable option to filter out certain picklist values.
• Archive a picklist value.

In both cases, when you remove a picklist value it remains visible on existing records where it was used, but it is no longer selectable when editing existing records or creating new records.

Use the Enable option in the picklist

When defining or editing the picklist, you must add a filter at bottom of the picklist definition that only includes values where the Enabled field is selected.

Now, when the Enabled option is unselected for certain picklist value records, the value remains unchanged for existing records but can no longer be selected for new records or when updating existing records.
