Project Template Properties

The details page of project templates is used to manage the following information:

• Number – An automatic number generated by the system
• Name * – The name that will be shown in picklists when selecting a template
• Description – Descriptive text to describe the usage and scope of the template
• Duration – The total duration in days is calculated automatically
• Buffer Ratio – Is calculated automatically and indicates how much time is reserved as buffer (see section Durations & Reviewers)
• Timeline – The graph is created automatically based on the Tasks List entries and requires an update after changing the Tasks List (use Workflow action 'Update Duration & Timeline' to initiate this update)
• Update Schedule – If this is checked, the matching flag will be enabled for projects based on this template. If enabled, the project schedule will be updated automatically upon gate review completion (see details in chapter 'Manage Projects').
• Budget Threshold – If a threshold is defined, project managers can skip the approval of new projects if their given budget is below this threshold
• Business Unit – Optional information that may be used for filtering and reporting
• Industry – Optional information that may be used for filtering and reporting

Section 'Durations & Reviewers' will show the duration of each project phase based on the automatic calculation. A gate review duration / buffer can be provided as option to prevent adjustments to the schedule in case of project delays (see details in chapter 'Manage Projects'). Set these fields to 0 if buffers should not be used. Gate Reviewers may be selected to involve further stakeholders in the approval of gates. All users listed as reviewer will have to approve during gate review before the project can proceed. If no reviewers are defined, the project manager is able to approve the given gate by himself. Project managers can still add further gate reviewers for each project individually.
