Manage Fusion Manage system workspaces

Fusion Manage

Fusion Manage requires a separate license and can be used with Fusion or independently. Learn more.

Note:

Updated features and workspaces described in this topic are being rolled out gradually to customers. Contact your Autodesk representative for more detail.

The Workspace Manager includes two workspaces with reduced settings: Components and Drawings. These are called 'system workspaces'. They are tightly integrated with Fusion. They have limited administration capabilities to preserve this integration.

Workspace relationships and attachments

You may find it helpful to create a relationship between Components and Drawings workspaces. The relationship between a drawing and its model is only captured in Fusion and the Fusion web client. Adding this relationship in Fusion Manage lets you see this information quickly without switching contexts.

The Attachments tab enables team members to attach supporting documentation to component and drawing items.

Role permissions control the visibility and functionality of the Relationships and Attachments tabs. Every tab shown on a workspace item is controlled by role permissions.

You may already have Editor [Components] and Editor [Drawings] roles. These roles contain the necessary permissions for Relationships and Attachments tabs. Assign these roles to groups and add users to those groups. Then they can use these two tabs.

Behaviors

Your site comes with the following default behaviors for system workspaces.

  • The Components workspace uses a script to generate a sequential item number when a new item is created.
  • Similarly, the Drawings workspace has its own script to generate sequential item numbers.

These are both linked to the item numbering schemes you configure in the Fusion web client > Admin pages.

Recommendations

  • Work with the default (pre-configured) behaviors for the Drawing and Components workspaces to avoid unexpected results with item numbering.
