Fatigue Setup

To access Fatigue Setup for a Multi-Axial or Vibration Fatigue analysis, right-click on Fatigue Setup under Subcases in the tree and select Edit.

Multi-Axial or Vibration Fatigue analysis settings

  • Name: Used to label a fatigue setup.
  • ID: Used to identify a fatigue setup numerically.
  • Approach: Fatigue life approach, one of the following is specified:
    • Stress Life: It takes the SN-DATA for the calculation of Life and Damage.
    • Strain Life: It takes the EN-DATA for the calculation of Life and Damage.
  • Method: Life calculation method, selected by one of the following:
    • vonMises
    • Max principal
    • Max shear
  • Threshold: Percentage of amplitude threshold. This is applicable only for multi-axial fatigue analysis.
  • Event Duration: Event duration used to determine life.
  • Time Conversion Factor: Factor to convert event duration and life output units other than seconds.
  • Signed Stress: Specifies whether the stress or strain used in the life calculation method should be signed or not. A YES setting allows signed values, depending on the principal stress or strain. A setting of NO or the default AUTO allow only positive values.

In order to solve any fatigue analysis, Fatigue setup and Fatigue data (SN DATA or EN DATA) in Material should be defined.
