Task Workflow

While the workflow contains a lot of steps, the team does not have to use all of them as there is little to no business logic attached to the workflow.

Status Remarks
Created Users can complete a given task directly by transitioning to Complete status. This will skip all intermediate steps.

If the team prefers to track the task progress, the task has to be submitted instead. However, this requires having an Assignee selected for the Implementation in section Assignment.
Implementation In this step, the selected Implementer is responsible to perform the task. He will find an entry in his My Outstanding Work list until the Implementation status is left.

He can report his progress by using given Workflow Actions (e.g. to set the progress to 25%). This will update the task’s progress bar in the Status section and also display the Implementer’s comment.

If the task cannot be performed, the Implementer may return the task to Created state, send it to Clarification (which will notify the Task Owner) or set it On Hold. The task owner may also do so.

Completion of the task however is only possible for the Implementer. If a Reviewer is defined in the task details, the task cannot be completed directly but requires a Review in the given status.
Review If a Reviewer is defined in the task’s details, this step becomes mandatory.

Once this status is reached, the given Reviewer will be notified by mail and find the task in his My Outstanding Work list.

The reviewer may return the task to the Implementer if the results do not met expectation or close the task. He may also involve further users for testing. In this case, he can transition the task to End User Test. It will be his responsibility to further transition the task after completion of the tests.
Completed When this status is reached, progress is set to 100% automatically.
