Spiral finishing creates a 2D spiral pattern within a boundary and then projects it onto the model. This pattern is then machined.
This strategy minimizes the number of tool lifts, while maintaining more constant load conditions and deflections on the tool. This maximizes cutting time, which in turn reduces the overall machining time.
This strategy supports Boundary curves.
The availability of this strategy depends on the machining function you are using.
The Spiral finishing strategy is available for the following machining functions:
PartMaker/SwissCAM and PartMaker/Turn-Mill
- Mill XY Plane
- Mill 5-Axis Plane
- Mill ZY Plane
- Mill End, Polar
- Mill Diam, Polar
PartMaker/Mill
- Mill XY Plane
- Mill 5-Axis Plane
- Mill 4-Axis Plane
On the Strategy dialog, the following pages are available for the Spiral finishing strategy:
- Spiral finishing —The main page used to define a spiral finishing toolpath.
The remaining pages are common toolpath creation controls.
Tip: Use the Surfacing Defaults dialog to specify the default settings for Advanced Surface Machining toolpaths.
