Offset flat finishing creates an offset toolpath on the flat areas of the model. Offset flat toolpaths are useful for finishing flat areas, the bottom of pockets and for high-speed machining.
Tip: Offset flat finishing provides a simple interface for machining flat areas of a model. More extensive flat machining options are available in the Model area clearance strategy.
This strategy supports Boundary curves.
More extensive flat machining options are available in the Model Area Clearance strategy.
The availability of this strategy depends on the machining function you are using.
The Offset flat finishing strategy is available for the following machining functions:
PartMaker/SwissCAM and PartMaker/Turn-Mill
- Mill XY Plane
- Mill 5-Axis Plane
- Mill ZY Plane
- Mill End, Polar
PartMaker/Mill
- Mill XY Plane
- Mill 5-Axis Plane
- Mill 4-Axis Plane
On the Strategy dialog, the following pages are available for the Offset flat finishing strategy:
- Offset flat finishing — The main page used to define an offset flat finishing toolpath.
- High speed — Settings for the smoothing options to avoid sharp changes in direction when high speed machining.
The remaining pages are common toolpath creation controls.
Tip: Use the Surfacing Defaults dialog to specify the default settings for Advanced Surface Machining toolpaths.
