User Defined Objects

Asset network and user defined object functionality is only available if the InfoAsset Manager Suite option is enabled on your licence. Please contact us for information about adding this option to your existing licence.

Network objects can be customised to suit your needs. These objects are available to all network types and can represent:

  • Assets
  • Incidents
  • Repairs
  • Surveys
  • Zones
  • Any Object

Create user defined objects

User defined objects are created using the User Defined Objects dialog. This dialog is accessed via the Database managementUsers defined objects option of the File menu.

User defined relationships may be specified for user defined objects. See Object Relationships and Managing User Defined Relationships for further details.

Only Database Owners will be able to create and edit user defined objects and relationships if user permissions are enabled for the database.

Viewing and editing user defined objects

The properties of a user defined object can be seen and edited in:

Note:

The only exception to this rule is user defined objects of Object Type=Other. Such objects can be found in the Zone Grid.

The object type can be seen in the Object Type column of the User Defined Objects dialog and is selected when the object is first created. User defined object creation takes place in the User Defined Object Grid and the type of the object can be selected from the Object Type dropdown. Available object types are listed below:

  • Asset
  • Survey
  • Repair
  • Zone
  • Incident
  • Other

Refer to the table in the User Defined Object Grid topic for more information on the available user defined object types and the grids that they are displayed in.

The name of the tab on the Network Object Grid Window will correspond to the user defined name that has been typed in the Object Name field at object creation or editing time.

Deleting user defined objects

It is currently not possible to delete User Defined Objects.

Validation is available to ensure that User Defined Object data is consistent with the network.

Reports for selected objects in the network can be generated from customised templates. See the InfoAsset Manager Reports topic for further information.

Use the NavigateTo Related Objects () toolbar option from the Object Properties Window to open the Property Windows for associated objects.

Alternatively launch the Object Browser Window to displays object relationships and manage related objects.
