Background Network

A SWMM or InfoWorks network or, for on-premise databases only, an InfoAsset Manager network can be opened as a background layer in the InfoWorks or SWMM network currently open on the GeoPlan.

For on-premise databases only, an InfoWorks network can also be updated from an InfoAsset Manager background Collection network. See Importing from an InfoAsset Manager Collection Network for more details.

A background network can be opened by the following methods:

By default the latest version of the network selected as a background network will be loaded into the GeoPlan. It is only possible to select previously committed versions of a network when using the Background Network dialog to select a network.

Opening a guest network

To open a background network from a Guest Database

  1. Open a network.
  2. Select OpenOpen another database from the File menu. This displays the Open/Create dialog.
  3. Choose which type of database you want to open as a guest by clicking on the relevant image and the appropriate Open Database dialog is displayed.
  4. Select the database to be opened and click OK. This displays the Guest Explorer view.
  5. Drag and drop a network from the Guest Explorer view to the InfoWorks ICM GeoPlan. The dropped network will be opened as a background layer in the InfoWorks ICM GeoPlan.

Selection lists, layer lists, themes, queries and ground models can also be dragged from the Guest Explorer view to the host network.

Display options for the Guest Network can be modified by right clicking on the GeoPlan and selecting Background Properties & Themes from the popup menu.

Property Sheets for the Guest Network can be viewed in the same way as for the host network by using the tool.

A Grid Window of the Guest Network objects can be viewed by using the button on the Windows Toolbar or the Modelling Grid Windows Toolbar , or be selecting Grid windows | New asset window from the Window menu.

Guest Network objects may be edited via the property sheets and Grid window.
