Complete an engineering project

Note:

This template is not currently available for Fusion Manage Extension sites.

When you have finished all activities in a project, you can mark it as complete. If it is determined that the project can no longer go ahead, you may cancel the project in Fusion Manage.

Close the project

In the Status tab, click the Finish transition. This moves the project to the status of Capture Lessons Learned. This enables you and your team to reflect on the project to determine areas for improvement for next time. Document any lessons learned in the Closure section in the Lessons Learned field. You must enter something in thie field before the project can be closed.

When this is done, click the Close transition in the Status tab.

If there are any activities that have not been marked as complete, then they remain with the status that they had when you closed the project. In other words, closing a project does not close any ongoing activities. Therefore, you should make sure all activities are finished before closing the project.

The M5 Plan Deviation field in the Closure section calculates the difference between the planned finish date and the actual final date. You may also add any additional comments regarding the template that was used to generate this project in the Template Update Proposal field.

Cancel the project

If it has been determined that the project can no longer go ahead, you may cancel the project instead. While the project is either in the Planning or In Work states, click the Cancel Project transition. This puts the project in a state of Cancelled and no further work can be done for the project. The project and all activities in the project are archived regardless of what state they had when the project was cancelled.

To view all archived items in the workspace list view, click the filter icon and toggle Show only archived items.
