Pybox
Use Pybox to load and use Pybox plug-ins that allow third-party applications, renderers usually, to integrate into the compositing pipeline. The plug-in itself is a Python (.py) file created by Autodesk or third parties.
To use a Pybox in Flame:
- If using a third-party plug-in, install it according to the developer's instructions.
- Start Flame.
- Access the Pybox plug-in using:
- Batch, then select a node from the Node bin.
- Timeline, then use Batch FX. See Creating Batch FX.
- Timeline, then add Timeline FX from the Effects ribbon. See Adding Timeline FX.
The inputs and outputs of the node depend on the Pybox that you load.
Pybox as a Source Timeline FX
You can use a Pybox as a Source Timeline FX. This makes it possible to load a something like Filmlight's BLG For Flame grade before the Timewarp and Resize Timeline FXs. Use it when you want to use the Resize FX to change the framing of your content without affecting the area where the Baselight colorist applied a shape-based secondary grading or a reposition.
To take full advantage of a Source Pybox, make sure to apply the FX on a segment and not as a Gap FX.
