Once you finish checking and numbering the model, you can automatically create dimensioned and labeled 2D general arrangement and shop drawings. A drawing may consist of several linked details.
Topics in this section
Overview
Learn about the model drawing principles, drawing styles and drawing processes.
Create Part Drawings in a Single Step
Use drawing processes to accelerate the drawing creation by automatically assigning drawing styles and layouts for the selected parts.
Drawing Prototypes
Drawing prototypes act as a template for any new drawing generated with Advance Steel. Their main role is to maintain the page format and the header. Prototypes can be reused as many times as required to output drawings from a project.
Weld Dialog: Leader Line Tab
Use the properties on this tab to set the visibility and representation of the weld symbol leader line in detail drawings.
Configure the Hole Symbol
Learn how you can configure drawing styles to display a hole using a symbol instead of its real shape from the model using the Management Tools application and a series of DWG files containing the shapes that make up the symbol.
Dimension Dialog: Running Dimension Tab
Use the properties on this tab to configure the position of the absolute and relative dimension values on detail drawings.
Dimension Dialog: Dimension Label Tab
Use the properties on this tab to configure the position, content and representation of the dimension label on detail drawings.
Enable or Disable the Automatic Compass Label Arrangement
Enable or disable the functionality that automatically arranges all labels placed according to compass orientation, using the corresponding default available in the Management Tools application.
Align and Arrange Labels
Align or arrange labels on demand, using an existing reference label and a set of predefined rules, specific to each command.
Detail Explode Settings
Advance Steel details can be exploded into its component AutoCAD elements according to the rules defined in the Detail explode settings.
The Detail Explode Dialog
learn about the different options and settings you can configure in the Detail Explode dialog.
Keep Track of Changes
Usually, during the review stage of a project, different changes might be necessary both in the model and in the drawings. You can automatically keep track of the changes in drawings.
The Revision Tab
This property tab is present on most detail view related dialogs and it gives you the option to place and customize a revision cloud on detail drawings.
Move a View
When creating assembly drawings, various views and cuts of the main part may be generated. You can change their position on the created drawing.
Rearrange Details
Learn how to rearrange details in your project documentation.
Change a Detail
This tool allows you to make additional changes to the detail parameters, such as scale, clipping or title text.
Update a Detail
When objects that are not displayed are modified (for example, the hidden lines color is changed) a gray rectangle appears around the modified object, meaning that an update is needed. This tool forces an immediate update of a modified detail.
Delete a View
This tool deletes views from a detail. The connection to the model remains intact.
View Dialog: Properties Tab
Use the properties on this tab to configure the view, the viewport and the dimension type in detail drawings.
View Dialog: Clip Tab
Use the properties on this tab to configure clipping and clipping representation in detail drawings.
View Dialog: Orientation Tab
Use the properties on this tab to configure the compass mark and compass mark representation in assembly and general arrangement drawings.
Element (View) Dialog: Lines Tab
Use the properties on this tab to configure the line type and color of elements on detail drawings.
Element (View) Dialog: Axes Tab
Use the properties on this tab to configure the type and color of element system, median and helper lines in detail drawings.
Element (View) Dialog: Symbol Tab
Use the properties on this tab to configure the representation of cross section and single line symbols in detail drawings.
Cameras on Detail Drawings
Cameras created in the model can be detailed on general arrangement drawings using a symbol representation and a label showing information about the camera.
Create a Cut View from the Detail
Use this command to simply select the view where the manual cut is to be created and the cut position and depth. All the available overrides will be optional and accessible using a shortcut key at the view selection step.
Renumber Cut Views
Use this command only on individually opened drawings to avoid gaps in the cut view numbering.
The Cut View Symbol
Learn how to insert and configure the cut view symbol in your drawings.
Callout Views
Detail specific small areas of the model directly from existing general arrangement drawings.
Preferred View Request for Manual Cuts and Callouts
Add or remove a view configuration in the Drawing Style Manager to or from the manual cut view and callout view lists to obtain a clean list, containing only the preferred requests that you can use throughout the project.
Model Views with Camera Detailing Capabilities Model views also have camera capabilities in addition to their ability to isolate objects in the 3D model space. This removes the need to create cameras for detailing purposes over existing model views for most use cases of elevation and general arrangement plan drawings.
Change the Prototype File
This tool allows you to change the prototype used for the detail creation, from the drawing.
Update the Page Header
This tool allows you to update the page header in all details linked to the model, according to the modified project data.
