Use the Groove Options dialog to control retract distances for the tool when performing pecking or non-pecking operations. This dialog is available for profile groups that use a Grooving or a Cut-Off strategy.
To display the Groove Options dialog, click the Groove Options button on the Profile Group Parameters, Turn dialog when programming a groove (rectangular or general) or a cut-off operation.
The settings available on the Groove Options dialog depend on the Axial Step value that has been set on the Profile Group Parameters dialog.
Pecking options
These options are available on the Groove Options dialog when the Axial Step value on the Profile Group Parameters dialog is greater than zero.
- Pecking, Retract By Axial Step — Select this option to retract the tool by the Axial Step value after each linear peck.
- Pecking, Retract By Set Distance — Select this option to retract the tool by an amount equal to the Retract Distance value after each linear peck.
- Rapid to Clearance — Select this option to specify that the tool performs a rapid move back to the clearance level outside of the groove after retraction between each peck.
No Pecking option
The No Pecking option is selected on the Groove Options dialog when the Axial Step is equal to zero.
- No Pecking — Select this option to specify that no pecking occurs in the toolpath.
- Retract Distance (D) — Enter the linear retract distance that is added prior to a rapid move out of a groove.
- Rapid to Clearance — Select this option to specify that the tool performs a rapid move back to the clearance level outside of the groove, even if the groove is retracting against a wall.
