Section Solid Model dialog (PartMaker)

Use the Section Solid Model dialog to section the currently imported solid model in the XY, ZY, or ZX planes, or in the face plane of the current face window.

To display this dialog, select Solids > Model > Sectional View when you have a solid model.

The following settings are available:

Sectioning Plane — Select an XY, ZX, ZY, or face plane sectioning plane for the current Face window.

Z Coordinate — This field is available only when XY Plane is selected from the Sectioning Plane drop-down list. Specify the Z coordinate of the plane parallel to the XY plane to be used for sectioning. You can either enter this parameter manually or select a vertex, face center, edge midpoint, or arc center from the solid model.

ZX Section Angle — This field is available only when ZX Plane is selected from the Sectioning Plane drop-down list. Specify the angle made by the sectioning plane with the ZX plane. You can either enter this parameter manually or select a vertex, face center, edge midpoint, or arc center from the solid model.

Depth Coordinate — This field is available only when Face Plane is selected from the Sectioning Plane drop-down list. Specify the distance of the sectioning plane from the face plane to which it is parallel.

Reverse Direction — Select to reverse the direction of material removal from the solid during sectioning. The direction of material removal is displayed on the solid model as a thick green arrow.

Preview — Click to preview the sectioning plane at the specified Z Coordinate, Depth Coordinate, or ZX Section Angle on the solid model.
