Use the Tool Entry dialog to specify how the tool enters the material at the beginning of a cut.
Note: The Tool Entry dialog is not available if Advanced Milling Toolpath features are being used for a profile group.
To display the Tool Entry dialog:
- Ensure the Advanced Milling Toolpath option is deselected on the Profile Group Parameters dialog.
- Click the Tool Entry button on the Profile Group Parameters dialog.
The following options are available:
Tool Entry — This sets the type of tool entry:
- Vertical — The tool enters the material perpendicular to the workplane.
- Helical — The tool enters the stock with a spiral path, eliminating center cutting with the tool.
- Ramp — The ramped path takes the tool from the initial position and moves to the next position while also moving the tool to the appropriate depth.
- Ramp Down and Return — The tool does the same as for Ramp, but returns to the initial point before continuing on to the next toolpath.
Hole Diameter — This option is available only when a Helical tool entry is selected. Use this option to set the diameter of the helix generated during helical tool entry.
Note: The Hole Diameter must be larger than the diameter of the tool used.
